The team has been playing well of late with a record of 7-3 over its last 10 trips. For the previous five series, St. Louis is 3-1-1. The jog differential is +34, that will be 6th in the NL. The club holds down a Wild Card spot and currently is Only a half-game supporting the Chicago Cubs in the NL Central.
The Rockies have the statistical edge at the plate, however lets not overlook that the run-happy house field of the team inflates the stats. Blackmon is batting .330 to direct Colorado. Nolan Arenado tops the team. Kolten Wong is batting .275 to lead St. Louis. Paul Goldschmidt is your team leader with 28 HRs and 68 ribbies.
Marquez has decent stats on the year if you consider where his home area is situated. Hes got wins in his past 2 outings in a row. Last time out, he also gave up two earned runs on five innings in a win. Mikolas was roughed up to 10 total. He gave up five earned runs over five innings in a loss to the Reds last time out.
The Cardinals have a very clear advantage when the relievers become involved and one of the top bullpens in MLB. Marquez has continued five innings or more. Hes declines in three of the past four outings, although mikolas was in a position to hit that mark in every one of his final 10 starts.
Tonights game will mark the first meeting of both of these clubs this year. They will also be gearing up to get a three-game place in Colorado following month.
The Cardinals are the overall team on paper. Theyre playing nicely with a team which is in the middle of a playoff push and a mark within the past ten games. The Rockies are currently slogging through a season where they occupy the basement in the NL West.
St. Louis gets the bullpen advantage, and thats a good thing based on the recent performance of Mikolas. Weve got a difficulty trusting a beginner whos allowed five earned runs in back-to-back starts. The Rockies bats are productive over the last two games therefore they have a shot.
St. Louis should win the series, but the Rockies can steal 1 tonight. We like Colorado to get the victory.
