Jason Day to miss the Presidents Cup in Australia with injury

Jason Day will lose out on the chance to play with a Presidents Cup on home soil.
The former world No 1, that was appointed as a captains choice by Ernie Els to the biennial competition earlier this season, will miss the occasion in Royal Melbourne in December 12-15.
Day has suffered a back injury and will probably be replaced with the Byeong Hun An, who narrowly missed out on qualifying automatically for the International Team of South Korea.
Im quite disappointed I wont be coming home to perform either the Australian Open in Sydney and also the Presidents Cup the following week at Melbourne, Day said in an announcement. I was very looking forward to both events.
I was prepping all week in Palm Springs when I had been hurt. Frustratingly, I have been through back problems before and my healthcare staff determined it best to close down all practice and play.
An, who won the BMW PGA Championship at 2015, recorded three top-10s on the PGA Tour last season before starting this campaign with four top-20s in his first six starts.
I am sorry to hear that Jason [Day] was made to withdraw from the International Team and that I wish him a speedy recovery, An said.
It was a massive surprise to receive a call from Ernie [Els] who told me that I was in the group. It has been a goal of mine season to be on the International Team and now Im honoured to play in my first Presidents Cup.
