Kieran Trippier hits out at Daniel Levy and Mauricio Pochettino over Tottenham exit

Kieran Trippier has hit out in Daniel Levy along with Mauricio Pochettino across the fashion of his exit from Tottenham, stating they failed to disclose his own plans to sell him.
The 28-year-old right-back combined Atletico Madrid from Spurs for #21.7m in July, and said on Monday he felt he had obtained a”step up”.
But, Trippier admits he did not need to leave north London, but had no option when his supervisor and chairman did not respond to his requests for permission.
He explained:”I talked to the manager about his aims and I did not receive a’yes’ and that I did not receive a’no’ – therefore you get the impression.
“The manager didn’t say he wished to move me and I tried to talk to the chairman on it.
“It is not fine when you understand the club want to sell you. It happens and it’s soccer and it’s not nice although I heard rumours about them promoting me.
“It is disappointing. I gave everything to the club and I needed to remain. I had another couple of decades but what happens for a reason.
“Me and your manager didn’t leave on bad terms; he’s done a lot for me and that I respect him highly.
“it is only a couple of items – I attempted to speak to the chairman, I just didn’t get an answer.”
Trippier appreciated an outstanding World Cup at 2018 for England but suffered a slump in form last year – his campaign at Spurs.
Gareth Southgate for its Nations League droped him however, has now returned for this month Qualifiers.
Trippier acknowledged his standards slipped but believes Spurs may repent selling him, saying:”Everybody has an opinion – that you have, the pundits have.
“It does not bother me but obviously the fans… I put the bar high at the World Cup and they understood how well I can perform.
“Tottenham got rid of me at the incorrect moment, but I struggled with injuries. I might have come back fresh and fit but they made the choice and now I am in Atletico.”
