Charlie Appleby has his sights set on Another victory from the Goffs Vincent O’Brien National Stakes, week, since he Guesses That the unbeaten Pinatubo to Your Group One showpiece at the Curragh on Sunday.
The Shamardal colt has been a hugely impressive performance from the Vintage Stakes at Goodwood and most recently among the stars including the Stakes at Royal Ascot, winning each of his starts in the division.
Appleby struck 12 weeks ago – a son of Dubawi, who’d won the race for Godolphin in 2004.
The Newmarket coach advised irishchampionsweekend.ie:”We are on course, all is well with Pinatubo and this race has always been our goal.
“He’s been pleasing us in the home and really the only issue might be if the ground were really analyzing, but he managed requirements fine at Goodwood and he must be all systems go for the Curragh.
“He has the ideal profile to currently be going into Group One firm and, four , of course he’s exciting. He is place on temperamentally and it was pleasant to win on the race . We won it last year with Quorto and (Godolphin) had last won the race with his dadDubawi.”
Opposition to the Appleby-trained runner could include Ger Lyons’ Siskin, that had been last seen last month, winning the Keeneland Phoenix Stakes over six furlongs at the Curragh.
Appleby added:”This really is going to be a race with two arousing colts since Ger Lyons’ Siskin has looked great and he will most likely be happier on an adequate surface even though he won on testing floor last time.
“It was wonderful to win this race last year and I am really excited about it, using Pinatubo hopefully on course for the Dewhurst at Newmarket after it.”
